Welcome to Mountain Trip’s December 26th Mount Vinson Team. Our friend John Cheng from Australia is joining us down in Antarctica. John climbed Denali with us in 2011, and we appreciate his trust in joining us down at the other hemisphere for the next couple of weeks. Sebastian Grau Kundhardt, a veteran of many Mountain…Details
Erika called in a post that provides some very nice details about their day hiking up the steep and narrow Relinchos Valley. The team made great time on their hardest day of the trip to date, as they climbed about 3,000′ (1000m) from the broad, glacial plain of the Vacas Valley, along the tributary, Relinchos…Details
Joe Butler called in to report that the team made good time on the 8-mile hike to the site of their camp 2 on the approach to Base Camp. The weather was warm throughout much of the day, but became quite windy just before they arrived at Casa de Piedra, their home for the evening. …Details

They might fly…Details

Jacob called to give us a progress report on their summit day. They are doing great, very light wind and relatively warm temps today, so a great day to go to the top. They are still a few hours from the summit, but everybody is doing well and they should make it. We hope to…
recording The Vinson team moved up to high camp yesterday, and woke this morning to a beautiful warm (Antarctica style) day and they are going to head for the summit! They’ve had breakfast and will be packing up and leaving in the next 30 minutes or so. We hope to hear from them as the…
