The May 31 team called this morning to report a successful descent. They were tired and it was late, so the crew went straight to bed. They reported a beautiful but long summit day. Their plan is to head down the ridge to the top of the fixed lines and continue down to 14 camp…
The May 31 team called at 8pm to report a successful summit with everyone reaching the top of North America. They enjoyed light winds and excellent views all around. They are currently on their way down to high camp, I’ll update when they are all down in camp.
After a meal of cheesy Enchiladas the team is settled down into their bags for the night. They carried gear and food to 9,800′ today and reported beautiful weather and decent travel conditions. They plan to move camp to 11,200′ tomorrow, and the weather looks like it should hold out.

Kevin Koprek and team were able to travel the increasingly broken lower section of the Kahiltna glacier overnight when conditions were frozen, so snow quality made for great walking. Now they are established within a wanded and probed perimeter, most likely sleeping as I write this, getting ready to carry some gear and food ahead…
Drew called from downtown Talkeetna to say hello- they were able to hit a weather window and flew back to town with no problems. They have a few more days on the trip and are in the process of planning activities for the rest of their trip.
The weather improved during the day but when conditions stabilized it was too late for a summit bid. They still have days to wait it out, and the weather forecast continues to be favorable for the next couple of days. Maybe tomorrow they’ll go have a look…
The river crossing went well and the team met up with the MT van and ate watermelon and ate huge sandwiches before getting on the road to head to Anchorage. Right now they are in between McKinley village and Talkeetna.
