Carstensz Pyramid October 29th Team 2018

The Mountain Trip Carstensz Pyramid expedition team is meeting today in Bali, Indonesia, a beautiful place to stop and regroup before heading further East to the island of Papua.  Carstensz Pyramid is a massive limestone peak in the middle of the island and towers over the jungle at 16,023 ft.  Carstensz Pyramid is the highest peak on the continent and one of the more exotic and elusive of the 7 summits.  The team will spend a day relaxing on the island of Bali and then take off on a late night flight tomorrow to Papua.

This year’s Carstensz Pyramid expedition will be led by guide Scott Woolums, one of the most experienced high altitude guides in the world, with an impressive and extensive climbing resume. This will be his eighth trip to Carstensz and he knows the route intimately. Scott has led treks and climbs in Borneo, New Guinea, the Alps, Egypt, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, Thailand, Alaska and the Himalaya, among many others, in addition to leading many successful expeditions to all of the Seven Summits.

We’ll keep updating the expedition dispatches for the team along their journey and will post pictures as well as audio dispatches as they come in!
