The team is re-united in Namche. It was great to get our our entire team together tonight. The 2nd part of the climbing crew, Scott, Newall, and Irek, along with Diane and Laurie (who are joining us for the trek into base camp) arrived in Namche to great weather and a late lunch. The first half of the team, Bill, Ephi, Neal, and Chris along with trekkers Ilan, Eran, and Shahar spent another day exploring the many delights of Namche.
We woke to another chilly, but perfect day without a hint of a cloud. By noon the clouds were working their way up the valley from the warm moist lowlands, and by the afternoon a few are floating by. It’s a typical and fairly predictable weather pattern in the Himalaya this time of year. It’s not too bad as long as you are willing to get up early in the morning to travel to the next village before the afternoon rains..
Tomorrow, Bill’s team start the next leg of the journey towards Deboche at 3820 metres, making a stop to see the Tengboche Monastery..while Scott’s team acclimatize in Namche and take a short hike to get their first real view of Everest…
Tonight we are stretching our creativity and spelling abilities with a game of Scrabble.
