The team pushed hard to get supplies up to the high camp on the Upper West Rib or “Riblet” today. They skied up most of the elevation gain, as the initial slopes to high camp are moderate and afford fantastic skiing opportunities. It sounds like then took some advantage of those opportunities on their descent, as they skied roped (per NPS regulations) back down into camp after they made their cache.
The last 800′ of elevation was too steep and icy to climb up on their skis, so they traded their boards for crampons to complete their task for the day. This is a big, tough day, and the climbers are enjoying a well-deserved dinner of spaghetti as part of their reward.
