Lead guide Yoshiko Miyazaki-Back called in from the team’s Camp 1, down in the relatively thick air of 7,800′ on the main body of the Kahiltna Glacier. The team descended almost 10,000′ today, stopping for breaks at both the 14,200′ and 11,200′ camps. They had left caches of supplies as well as their garbage at each camp, and so they dug up those caches to recover those items and add them to their loads for the hike out the Kahiltna.
The plan is toopush to Base Camp in the early hours of Friday, and hopefully catch an early flight out to the green, warmth of Talkeetna!
Here is Yoshiko!
