The team arrived at Base Camp today, after about a five hour hike from their last camp at Casa De Piedra, down in the bottom of the Vacas Valley. The route took them across the Vacas River and up into the narrow defile where the tributary Rio Relinchos pours forth from a fairly deep ravine. There were some sections of steep side hilling before they walked out into a broad glacially formed valley at the east side of Aconcagua.
They will organize their kit and spend a few days acclimatizing at Base Camp before moving camp up onto the mountain proper. In the meantime, here is Kaz, calling in a post!
