The June 19 West Buttress team had an early morning moving up from 14,200′ to High Camp at 17,200′! Guide Brian Muller called in to report that the team had set up camp and that the weather is calm and looks great for heading to the summit tomorrow, July 3.
After a long night’s sleep–hopefully upwards of 12 hours–the team will head for the summit if the weather permits. Even sleeping at 17,200′ can present a challenge unless climbers are very well acclimated.
Below is the route that the team will take up to the summit of Denali at 20,310′. The summit push from High Camp and back again typically takes teams between 8 and 12 hours. Pictured below is a recent photo of a Mountain Trip climber on the summit.
Here’s Brian!
Good luck guys! Wishing you guys good weather and a great climb!
