Eric West called in a report for the June 23rd Team. The team enjoyed a nice night of travel from Base Camp to Camp 1, enjoying the scenery as they moved up the Kahiltna glacier. It doesn’t get dark in Alaska at this time of year, and during the nighttime hours the light becomes soft and very beautiful on the peaks immediately surrounding the glacier. The stunning surroundings allow your mind to momentarily forget the pain of a heavy pack and sled! The plan is for the team to eat, rest, then cache equipment and food up above Ski Hill, which the team will climb immediately out of camp. Eric reports that everyone is in high spirits and feeling good.
