Mountain Trip guide Brian Kramp called in for Shan’s May 28 Denali West Buttress Trip who are camped out at 11,200′.
They spent yesterday “back carrying,” or hiking back down to retrieve their cache, and they now have all of their gear with them back up at 11,200′. Next, today (6/6) they plan to carry a cache up to 13,500′, below their next camp at 14,200′.
The sunshine has returned to the mountain and has prevailed for the past week. The team will move up to “14-Camp” within the next few days, where they will spend at least a day acclimatizing to the thinner air before tackling the upper mountain.
