A breathless Sam Mangum called in from the top of the highest peak in South America!
At just shy of 23,000 feet, there is very little oxygen in each breath, and every bit of movement feels tough. Sam, Kelly, Chad and our lead guide Fermin Avila all reached the summit together, after almost 12 hours of climbing. The team split into two groups for the summit bid and only had one satellite phone, so details about the rest of the climbers have not yet been relayed to us.
Congratulations to the climbers and we will post an update as soon as we hear more from the crew.
Here’s Sam:
Absolute tears of joy for all of you. You carried our hearts with you every step of the way.
Very proud of all the team!!!
Sam you totally rock! Thank you for putting others above self in making this courageous journey. All your MHP people are thrilled and grateful!
Congratulations Cousin Chad, enjoy the Summit, then get down safely! So proud of you!!
