Joe and Scott flew from Bali to Timika, West Papua late last night and arrived to this remote island early this morning. Joe has been travelling pretty much non-stop from his home for the last 2 days. It’s a long way to Papua, but the guys are there and plan to fly tomorrow morning on a small plane to the village of Sugapa where the trek to Carstensz base camp will begin.
It is a tropical rainy place, and it sounds like the rains have been living up to there reputation there for the last few days. They are well prepared for the conditions, but hoping to get some of the elusive Papuan sunshine.
Here’s a call from Scott this morning (Oct. 15th) from Timika, W. Papua
