Mountain Trip lead guide Scott Woolums called in with an update on the May 30 team, who summitted Denali successfully and all together on June 16.
Although the team has since experienced some less than desirable weather at High Camp, Scott said that they couldn’t have asked for better summit day weather, with clear, calm conditions, little to no breeze, sunshine, and warm temperatures (by Denali standards). He said the team made it to the summit about 7.5 hours after leaving High Camp.
Everyone in the group successfully made it to the summit and back down, and everyone is still in good health and good spirits. Scott said that in good time each team member will call in and give their respective recap of the summit day, and how they felt personally during the endeavor.
CONGRATULATIONS to the May 30 team on their successful trip to the highest point in North America, the summit of Denali! Reaching 20,310′ is certainly no small feat. Climbing the route always comes with many hardships teams must overcome, and Scott said they “did it with style.”
We wish the team an enjoyable and smooth trip back down the mountain to Base Camp, and later, back to the relative civilization of Talkeetna, Alaska.
Here’s Scott with the update:
