Nicholas Gough called in on behalf of our June 1st team. They dropped down about 700′ to their cache site today, which was a sort of active rest day, although in the thin air of 14,000 feet, even a mellow day can feel like hard work!!
After retrieving the cache that they had buried in the snow days earlier, the team hiked back up to camp, which took a bit over an hour. Along the way, they negotiated a couple of spectacular crevasses that guard the entrance to 14 Camp.
The team is doing well and they are now setting their sights on the upper mountain. Ahead of them is the steepest part of the route, as well as some of the most spectacular climbing on the West Buttress.
Here is Nick!
