Mountain Trip lead guide, Harrison Lewis got on the radio from the group tent at Denali basecamp 7,200 ft (2194 m) to report that the June 23 team has officially arrived on the West Buttress route. The expedition is off to a great start with a fortunate break in weather that allowed our climbers to fly from Talkeetna, AK to the SE fork of the Kahiltna glacier.
After hauling the hundreds of pounds of gear they will need for their attempt to summit Denali over to the tent sites they put in a cozy camp and dined on gyros in warm pita for dinner – YUM! From here the team will be assessing travel conditions to make their move to Camp 1 7,800 ft (2377 m) – we’re super excited for them. Tune in soon to hear about their progress.
Glad you made it to base camp 👍
