Mountain Trip guide, Marcus, radio-ed in with greetings from the team’s high point of Camp 4 17,200 ft (5242 m)! Way to go, team! With two other Mountain Trip teams fresh off the summit of Denali yesterday the stoke is high and this team is patiently evaluating their weather window for their own summit bid in the coming days.
Reaching Camp 4 (aka High Camp) yesterday involved the team breaking down their home at Camp 3 14,200 ft (4328 m) and ascending approximately 3,000 ft (914 m) through steep, technical terrain with heavy packs. While this is a really tough day, the guides and climbers accomplished the move as a team while in good health. Congratulations, crew!
It certainly wasn’t all work for the climbers and they were rewarded with stunning views to take in while enjoying the awesome climbing along the ridge. Weaving in and out of the rocks and occasionally walking a knife-edge stretch, combined with big exposure, make this day one of the most memorable of the route. We’re excited to hear what they do next!
Godspeed May 7 Team!
