Climber Ryan called in on behalf of the May 7 Team as they were finishing up a dinner of spaghetti and meatballs after one heck of a climbing day! From 14,200 ft (4328 m) the goal is to cache supplies up on the ridge above us and return back down to 14 Camp.
Climbing up the “Headwall”, the section of the route with fixed lines running from 15,500 ft (4724 m) to the ridge at 16,100 (4907 m) with a heavy pack makes this one of the more strenuous days of the trip because of the steep terrain and thinning air. The views from the ridge can be as breathtaking as the rarefied air!
From what we hear from Ryan the team “had a blast” working through fixed lines. After 2,200 ft (610 m) of elevation gain and loss climbing time is approximately 5-7 hours a hot dinner was just what the climbers needed before getting to bed early.
Up next the climbers will rest before making their way to Camp 4 17,200 ft (5242 m)!
