Climber Ryan calling in from the May 7 team’s first night at Camp 3 14,200 (4328 m). Congrats, team! This was a 3,200 ft (3353 m) haul from Camp 2 11,000 ft (3353 m). Ryan’s dispatch hits all the major milestones that the team hit on their journey.
The team’s climb day started early by breaking down camp, packing up their gear, and climbing steep snow up the 1,000 ft (305 m) high Motorcycle Hill rewarding our climbers with spectacular views. From there fun climbing with crampons and an ice axe brought the team around Windy Corner where the upper mountain comes into view. This is one of the biggest travel days of the trip with approximately 5-7 hours of climbing time! We’re absolutely psyched to hear that it went well.
Arriving at “14 Camp” the team rendezvoused with the other Mountain Trip teams that were waiting there to greet them. From Ryan’s update, it sounds like they are already enjoying the camaraderie that this section of the route is known for. Together they are putting in essential camp infrastructure that all of our climb teams will use for the remainder of the season. Sounds like a blast!
Sounds great! Glad to hear all is well. Keep it going!
