It was another night of wind and snow up at more than 17,000 feet at Camp 2 on Aconcagua. The big storm passed overnight, and the weather improved through the day today. They were able to get out of the tents and walk around a bit after a couple of days of weather delays. The improving weather comes in time for the climbers to move on up to Camp 3, which will be their high camp as soon as tomorrow. The forecast is looking good for a summit attempt possibly on Mon, Feb. 7, so they are excited to get moving again. The additional nights at Camp 2 should pay off in additional acclimatization for the climbers when they do move up, so not all is lost with weather days.
Here’s Chris with the evening dispatch from Camp 2. Recording
