The June 17 team arrived at Camp 1 this afternoon after traveling in a bit of snow and wind. After a long walk with heavy sleds and packs, the team will now take some well deserved rest before planning to put in a cache of gear around 10,200′. This cache consists of gear and food to be used on the upper mountain.
These cache days not only break up the weight carried for the rest of the climb, but also serve as a crucial tool in the Denali acclimatization schedule. “Climb high, sleep low” as we like to say!
