Mario, a climber on the May 6 West Buttress Expedition with Mountain Trip, called in a bi-lingual trip update today.
Mario said the team is “pumped up (!!)” with anticipation for a possible summit window in the days to come. He reported that although they faced some high winds, they were the fastest team on the fixed ropes and hope to keep up their momentum towards Denali’s peak. All the team needs, at this point, is about a three-day window of clear weather to safely make their final push for the summit.
The second half of today’s trip report is graciously provided in Italian, as well, for those following Mario from back home. All of the climbers seem to be in high spirits (still cracking jokes and laughing) and are looking forward to the days ahead. Best of luck to the team as they endeavor towards the highest point in North America!
Here’s Mario:
Ciao Mario and team,
It is good to hear that you are doing well. Best of luck for the final climb!
