Climber Mallori Sheets called in an update for the May 17 West Buttress team at Camp Three (14,200′). The storm that was bringing high winds and snow to the upper mountain has began to ease off, with a window potentially opening for the summit over the next few days.
The team cached below fixed lines today, and are now in position to move to High Camp today, 5/28. The team is right on schedule and making great progress up the route. Above Camp Three, the route becomes significantly steeper, and the team will trade out their sleds and snowshoes for crampons and ice axes.
Here’s Mallori!

It’s been so fun to hear your posts! We’re happy to hear all is well and you’re eating so well. You’ll be strong summit day! Puppies are very happy and send their puppy love. Ellie too! Everything is on schedule for your house. Final walk thru is Friday.
Love you!
