Mountain Trip lead guide Brian Muller called in an update for the May 8 Denali team, as they prepared at Camp Three (14,200′) to prepare for their move higher on the West Buttress.
Luckily, after several days of high winds and blowing snow, the team has a weather window to continue further towards 20,310′. They will join two other Mountain Trip teams (May 10 Dagg and May 11 WB team) at Camp Four — High Camp, at 17,200′.
They will be heading up to High Camp TODAY (5/25), ascending 3,000′ up steep, technical terrain. Below, you can see the route that the team will follow from High Camp up to Denali’s summit at 20,310′–if their weather window holds to make a summit push.
It sounds like the team has had a cold trip so far, as is often the case for those who endeavor to reach the summit of The Great One in early May.
Here’s Brian!
