The May 8 team woke up to high winds and snow at High Camp (17,200 ft 5242m) yesterday. They packed up and made their way back to the fixed lines, descended to the base of the Headwall, and made their way back into Camp 3. Arriving in Camp 3, the team found beautiful sunny weather and no wind. After several days above 17,200′, Camp 3 feels like a moderately civilized, warm camp. After a stint of quick easy meals like ramen and dehydrated meals, they dove into some tasty chicken and pitas for dinner back at 14,200′ (4328m). Weather permitting, they hope to continue their descent to basecamp in the coming days.
