We got a relay through another Mountain Trip group that the May 29 team made a carry up the fixed lines to 16,400′ to cache their last load of gear up high. This sets the stage for a move to high camp on a few days. Most teams take a rest day the day after a carry to recuperate and prepare for the move to 17,200′, which is usually one of the toughest days on the trip. Rest days don’t mean sitting around in the tent all day, they involve exercise- this is because a light amount of exercise aids in acclimatization which can only help as they move higher.
