We are pleased to welcome the team members of our 10th Denali team of the 2014 climbing season. Some of these climbers are friends who have climbed together in Chile and, as do so many of our teams, the team comes from points around the world. On Monday morning, the team will join three of our Mountain Trip guides for a team meeting at the Millennium Alaska Hotel, in Anchorage. Following an overview of the expedition and some detailed discussion of the days to come, they will all double check their equipment and pack up some snacks for their climb.
Climbing a big, cold mountain such as Denali entails a lot of preparation, as well as a healthy dose of trust in your partners. We really appreciate the trust these climbers have placed in us as partners in their upcoming experience. The guides have been busy packing food and the team equipment for the past two days as well as reviewing skills, procedures and strategies for the expedition. The climbers are en route to Alaska and we are looking forward to meeting them on Monday.
Let’s meet the team!
- Scott Talmage from Ohio, USA
- Nick Shultz from Ohio, USA
- Juan Pablo Alcalde from Chile
- Fernando Larrain from Chile
- Juarez Soares from Brazil
- Moritz Werner from Germany
The guide team consists of:
- Ian Nicholson from Washington, USA
- Josh Garner from Oregon, USA
- Zach Keskinen from Alaska, USA
We will do our best to provide daily updates from the field, but please understand that on occasion, we will most likely miss a day or two. This can result from the team being busy and not having time to call in or from weather and terrain variables, either of which can make calling in from Denali a challenge.
