Bryan calls in from High Camp at 17,200′! A beautiful, windless and bluebird day allowed the team to ascend the fixed lines and walk the 16,000′ ridge in ideal conditions. Expressing gratitude for those who have served our country, they settle into their new camp prepared to push for the summit after a some rest and hope for this clear weather to stay around.
High Camp on Denali is a cold and harsh place. We cook in our tent vestibules and mostly eat dehydrated foods. The cold temperatures and high altitude make it hard to do much beyond boiling water for hot drinks. The simplest of tasks can be taxing. It is also the most beautiful camp on Denali during a clear day. You can see for miles into the Alaska Range with iconic peaks surrounding. Make sure to ask for photos from the climbers after the expedition!
Stay tuned for their summit push!
