The May 12th West Buttress Denali Expedition cached around Windy Corner today!
Well, it was a tough day for the satellite phones amongst our Denali teams… This dispatch cuts out about halfway through, but Lead Guide Harrison called in to inform us they his crew successfully put in a cache around Windy Corner. Listen below!
Judging from Harrison’s message, it sounds like the team experienced the full intensity of windy conditions on Denali and the “Windy Corner” lived up to it’s name!
Going around Windy Corner can be brutal at times, but it sounds like the team persevered well. Here’s an image that gives us an idea of what they may have experienced yesterday (note the goggles, face mask, etc). Brrrr…..
But the fact that the May 12th Team was able to get their cache in around Windy Corner means that they will soon be able to make the push up to Camp 3 at 14,000′.
Let’s all wish them good weather in the days to come so they can make that move a little bit more comfortably!
Great job Team. Getting that cache in around the Notorious Windy Corner is AMAZING and STELLAR Work! I love you Harrison
