Well, the team woke up, looked outside and decided that they liked what they saw, so they packed up their kit and took off for the summit!
They are at about 19,000′ (5792m) right now, and should be at the broad Football Field plateau in about a half an hour. From the Football Field, it is about an hour to the summit ridge, a long, knife edged feature with 1000′ (300m) of air to your left and 11,000′ (3350m) on your right! The ridge takes another 40 minutes or so and then they’ll be standing on the top of North America!
Satellite phones are notoriously fickle at such northern latitudes, but we’ll keep you updated as we learn of their progress.
Good luck to everyone!
