June 9 West Buttress Expedition – moved to High Camp!

The team made it up to High Camp at 17,200’ yesterday! Moving up to High Camp can be a big push. You gain 3,000’ and also spend some time on steeper terrain. This is where the team ascends the Fixed Lines which is a long section of fixed rope they climb using ascenders. After that they find themselves up on the 16 Ridge at 16,000’ staring down at the Alaska Range below before climbing another 1,000’ to High Camp. After making camp they tuck into bed and warm up with some dehydrated meals. The team is hoping for a summit push today!
