June 5 Team Backcarries to 10,200′

Yesterday the team walked back to their cache site at 10,200′ (3108m) from Camp 2 at 11,200′ (3413m). They dug up their supplies from the cache the buried them in a few days ago, packed everything up, and walked but up to camp. This only takes a couple of hours or so, allowing the team to have what we call an “active rest day”. An active rest day gives teams a chance to get out and move their body without exhausting themselves, having the rest of the day to catch up on some sleep, hydration, and fueling. Saray says the team even had some delicious backcountry pizza! Nice. Yesterday the team probably spent some time going over skills they will need to put in their next cache such as crampon and ice ax use. Ascending from Camp 2 the terrain starts to get a little more fun; a bit more steep and demanding.

Here’s Saray!
