The team didn’t get much sleep last night, as they were out of bed by about 11pm to get ready to head to Camp 1. They want to travel on the lower Kahiltna glacier during the coldest time of the day to take advantage of a good frozen, firm surface. This makes walking the 5 miles up to the 7,800 ft camp easier than traveling during the heat of the day. They arrived in camp by about 7 am this morning, so spent most of the day napping and eating. They’ll be on the night travel schedule again tonight when they will carry a load of food, fuel, and equipment up to about 10,000 ft to cache it before returning to their tents at C1 for another night. Everybody did great today, and the weather is looking pretty nice through the weekend.
