The ski team flew into the Alaska Range yesterday, landing at base camp on the S.E. Fork of the Kahiltna glacier. They spent last night at base camp, and will spend most of today going over glacier travel techniques, and getting their kit together. Tonight they will shoulder their packs and start up the Kahiltna glacier towards Camp 1 about 5 miles away. They are all excited to get underway, and put their skis on.
Yesterday morning the Mt Trip van picked them up from the Bed & Breakfast here in Anchorage and drove them up to Talkeetna. They checked in with the National Park Service then headed over to the airport to load all of their gear onto small ski planes and fly in.
On the way to Talkeetna yesterday, they stopped at a local landmark at took this picture. It looks like they are going to have a good time.
