Guide Dan Starr called in a post that was unfortunately very hard to understand, due to the challenges of communicating with satellites orbiting to the south when climbing at extreme northern latitudes… The team moved up and took up residence at 11,200′ in a beautiful basin, lined with steep snow slopes and sheer ice cliffs. The view out to the west is impressive, and the climbers can gaze out over a heavily glaciated ridge and see the tundra stretching off to the horizon, laced with silver treads of creeks, rivers and lakes.
Today was another hot and sunny day, so the team departed 7,800′ during the night, taking advantage of the shade that constitutes nighttime on the Summer Solstice to make travel more pleasant.
