Island Peak expedition descends back to Dingboche in stormy weather

Mountain Trip guide Jacob Schmitz sent in an update on the Island Peak expedition, who has split from the Everest Base Camp trekkers to head on to their primary goal, summiting Island Peak.

Jacob emailed: “We woke up at 4am and made it to the summit of Kalapattar 18,900′. Everyone did good. We got an amazing view of Everest for a few moments. The weather doesn’t look to good so we are not going to do the pass. We are now going to go to Dingboche today, 4-6 hours of hiking. We will see what the forecast looks like. Hope to summit Island Peak on the 1st or 2nd. We will try to call later to do a blog, the Ncell won’t let us call from here.”

We wish the team the best of luck (and better weather) as they head for their second major objective of the trip.
