As not everyone called in yesterday, we thought you all might appreciate an update on the teams whereabouts.
The June 9, Into Thin Hair Team was poised and ready to carry a load of supplies up the steep Headwall section of the route yesterday, but high winds above their camp kept them from making the push. They spent the day in the 14,200′ camp, building their acclimatization and watching plumes of snow stream off the ridge that leads to high camp.
The June 15 Team took an additional day at the 7,800′ camp today, rather than make the move up to the 11,200′ camp, as they had planned. All is well, but they had a couple of things to sort out, is the word I’ve gotten from the glacier. They hope to move up tomorrow.
The June 17 Team moved up to Camp 1 at 7,800′ today. They departed Base Camp in the wee hours of the morning, so that they could travel the majority of their 5 mile hike in the shade of the Alaskan nighttime. They are now camped next to our June 15 team!
Happy Solstice Everyone!!!
