Dave called in the dispatch from the May 13th Mountain Trip Denali team this evening from the 11,000 ft camp. Today they climbed up to around 13,500 ft to put a cache of food and gear in the snow, and returned to Camp 2 for the night. They carried their loads up Motorcycle Hill, and around the infamous Windy Corner before finding a good spot to dig a hole in the snow and burying it until they can pick it up in a few days. Tomorrow the plan is to move on up to Camp 3 at 14,200 ft.
Here’s Dave with the expedition dispatch from Camp 2.
Here’s a picture from Camp 2 from an earlier expedition. Motorcycle Hill takes off right out of camp, then the route turns to the right underneath the massive buttress of rock that makes up the West Buttress of Denali.
Nice to hear your voice, Dave and happy that everyone is doing well.
