The team moved up to Camp 1 at 16,300ft today, leaving the comforts of basecamp behind as they move up the hill. They did great today and the winds did not have the intensity of their Christmas Day carry to Camp 1. They’ll plan to make an acclimatization climb up to Camp 2 tomorrow, and then spend at least one more night at Camp 1 before moving up.
In other news from the team, yesterday Cassie and John flew out from basecamp by helicopter due to some altitude related issues. They were back in Mendoza by last night, and are doing great, but disappointed to be off the mountain early.
The satellite phone call from Camp 1 this evening was cut off early, but we got a text from the guides and they are doing great tonight.
