Lead guide Aaron Diamond called in an update on the Denali Ski Team, who had the chance to make their move up to Camp Three at over 14,000′! This is a milestone for teams on the route. They will spend a few days based here to make sure to maximize their acclimatization for the upper mountain ahead. Tomorrow the team plans to back-carry tomorrow, which is much more fun for the ski team than for other teams on snowshoes: They’ll ski down a mellow pitch from camp, a little over 1,000′ of vertical, with stunning views out over the Alaska Range to their cache. It sounds like a bit of snow was coming in when the team settled down after setting up camp, which means they might enjoy a bit of powder skiing on their way down to their cache.
It should be a nice active rest day for the team with potential for great skiing.
Here’s Aaron!
Upwards and Onwards! Sounds good!
Take care, be safe and enjoy this adventure of a lifetime!
How’s the Austrian guy doing?
