Ice Climbing

Sending a beautiful ice flow in the dead of winter is a totally unique and awesome experience. Mountain Trip offers a focused variety of guided ice climbing trips surrounding Telluride, Ouray and Silverton, including Half-Day Telluride Ice, Backcountry Ice, Ouray Ice Park, Best 4 Days in Ouray, Learn to Lead Ice Course and Ice Climbing Courses. Whether you’re new to the sport and seeking instruction, progressing through the grades or training for a big alpine project, we can provide a memorable experience in the San Juan Mountains, home to some of the most inspiring and classic ice climbing routes anywhere in the country.

Among the many great areas we are permitted to guide are Lower and Upper Ames, Lower Bear Creek, Bridal Veil Falls, Skylight, South Mineral Creek and Eureka near Silverton, and the world-famous Ouray Ice Park. Between them, we have access to an incredible array of difficulty and styles that can accommodate all abilities and skill levels. Regardless of your objective, we will help everyone progress, and, most importantly, have fun!

Mountain Trip is the only guiding service in Telluride accredited by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA), with an experienced team of ice climbing guides who bring a high level of knowledge and professionalism to the sport, as well as a passion for sharing their expertise with climbers of all abilities. And not only do they guide here, but they also live and recreate in the area.

We provide all of the necessary technical climbing equipment: ice tools, helmet, harness, crampons and mountaineering boots. (Gaiters, lightweight gloves, parkas and backpacks are available upon request). All of our equipment is top-of-the-line gear we have used and trust. Climbers are also welcome to bring and use their own gear upon inspection by one of our guides.
