Remembering Gary Falk

On Saturday July 23rd we lost a beloved member of the Mountain Trip family and our extended climbing and guiding community. Gary Falk, a husband and father of two rambunctious boys and a highly respected guide died while guiding on the Grand Teton in Wyoming.

Gary was a consummate professional and a fully certified AMGA/IFMGA guide. He was a mentor and friend to everyone he worked with and his ever optimistic demeanor, combined with his solid skill set, conservative decision making and humility made him highly respected by clients and guides alike.

Gary had worked for Mountain Trip in Alaska since 2014 and he split the rest of his year guiding for Exum Mountain Guides out of Jackson, WY and San Juan Mountain Guides around his home in Ouray, CO.  His passing has left a huge hole in the collective hearts of the Mountain Trip family.

We ask that our community remember Gary and support Gary’s family in their loss. Below is a link to a GoFundMe memorial fund intended to help support Kate and the children, Anders, age 4 and Donovan, age 9 months. This is one way you can help, and Kate would welcome any anecdotes, photos or stories that you might care to share.  Please append them to this post and we’ll make certain to share them.
