Pablo Puruncajas
I fell in love with the mountains at a young age while climbing Ecuador’s volcanoes with my father. I have guided in the Andes for 17 years and have been guiding for the past 11 years in the Northwest United States.
In 1997, I expanded my adventure skills by taking up rock climbing and actually represented my local Chimborazo province three times as the Ecuadorian National Rock Climbing Champion. In 2002, I moved to the United States to study English at Eastern Kentucky University. While in the U.S., I have spent much of my free time exploring the vast alpine, mixed, ice, and rock climbing areas throughout North America. I completed my UIAGM certification with the Bolivian Mountain & Trekking Guide Association, which is accredited by the National School of Ski and Alpinism of Chamonix (ENSA). I hold a current Wilderness First Responder certificate, as well as AIARE Avalanche Level 2, Leave No Trace Trainer, and I am on the Ecuadorian Association of Mountain Guides (ASEGUIM) Instructor Team.
