Tom Huntley
I grew up in the great state of Massachusetts. My love for the outdoors was fostered at an early age in the Boy Scouts, where I was first introduced to camping, climbing and backpacking. In high school I began venturing into the White Mountains of New Hampshire without adult supervision on overnight backpacking trips. It was on these early trips that I learned the value of self-reliance and perseverance in less-than-ideal conditions. After high school, I wanted to live in the mountains, so I attended the Military College of Vermont. It was here that I developed a serious passion for backcountry snowboarding, and the natural next step was to move west.
For the past decade, I have been living in Telluride, CO, and spending significant time in Alaska. My guiding career began in 2013 while living in Skagway, AK. My favorite part of guiding is meeting new people and helping them step outside of the comfort zone and accomplish their goals. My favorite things to guide are backcountry skiing/snowboarding and mountaineering. I have climbed all over the western United States, including, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, California, Idaho, Wyoming, Washington and Alaska.
I’m an AMGA Apprentice Rock, Ski, and Alpine guide. I hold certifications as a Single Pitch Instructor, Avalanche Pro 1, and Wilderness First Responder. Currently, I am continuing my guiding education through advanced-level AMGA courses.
In my free time I enjoy snowboarding at the Telluride Ski Resort, rock climbing, surfing in exotic locations, and tasting wine. I hope to climb with you soon!
