Lead guide Jason Denley calls in from Basecamp on the Kahiltna Glacier. After a very patient few days in Talkeetna they were able to snag a weather window and fly in with Talkeetna Air Taxi. The team has set up camp and is planning to make a move to Camp 1 during the middle of the night to use the cold temperatures that keep the glacier frozen and more comfortable to walk on. This first day is the heaviest day of the trip as the team single carries all their gear and food weight by backpack and sled 6 miles to establish Camp 1. Stay tuned and wish them luck!
