Brian Muller called in from 11,200′, Camp Two, with an update on the May 8th Denali West Buttress team, who are taking a weather and rest day today.
They awoke to high winds, moderate snowfall and poor visibility convincing them to take a weather day to rest rather than attempting cache in poor conditions. Brian mentioned it was “a bit cold,” which by Denali standards means highs of around 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Today, May 16, they are hoping to cache at 13,500′ (if weather allows) to set them up for their ascent to Camp Three at 14,200′ where they will spend at least a day acclimatizing and preparing for the challenges of the upper mountain.
