Today was essentially a rest day, but the team was very busy finalizing preparations for their push up the mountain. They gained a lot of elevation yesterday, climbing from 10,200′ to about 13,400′, so it makes sense to take a day to let their bodies catch up on acclimatization.
Tomorrow, they will hike loads of supplies up to Camp 1 at about 16,400′, before descending back to Base Camp for the night. That will be followed by another full rest and acclimatization day. The net of this schedule is that when they move up to Camp 1, they will have gained about 1000′ of elevation each day for the past six days, a conservative rate of ascent.
