Robert Danger Byrd called in from the team’s new home for the next few days, the broad basin of 14,200′ Camp. The team made good time, climbing to camp in about 5.5 hours from their previous encampment at 11,200′.
The day began with a hard climb up a moderately steep slope called Motorcycle Hill. This is a 1000′ climb that starts just a couple hundred meters out of camp. The team is moving well and and they had sufficient energy upon reaching the next camp to apparently engage in some discussion about changing the name of their team from the June 7 team to ??? That alone suggests good humor and energy, and bodes well for the crew in the coming days.
