Aconcagua team – Enjoying Camp 2

Zach Johnson called in yesterday to bring us up to date on the progress of our December 19th Aconcagua team.

They are going to make a carry up to high camp today, which means that they will pack some amount of their food and supplies up to the next camp, roughly 2,000 feet above. After depositing their loads at the site of the camp, they will return to Camp 2. This enables them to sort of ease their bodies into the thinner air of the higher camps. In climbing parlance, we call this “climbing high and sleeping low.” In this case, low means 18,000′, so it’s all relative.
