May 13 Team – High Camp Tomorrow

Mountain Trip guide Maddie’s dispatch has some exciting news for the May 13 Team!

Aside from lots of good eating in the cook tent at Camp 3 14,200 ft (4328 m), rest time in the tents, and leisurely walks this team is preparing to make the move to High Camp tomorrow!

Also known as Camp 4 17,200 ft (m) or “17 Camp” for short this is the last basecamp on the route and will be the team’s jumping-off point for the culmination of their expedition, summit day!

The move to “17 Camp” is an approximately 3,000-foot (914 m) day that will take the team about 6 to 8 hours. They will break down camp and pack up early tomorrow, weather permitting, to ascend the fixed lines, pick up their Cache at 16,100 ft (4907 m), and then move into the awesome climbing along the ridge. Weaving in and out of the rocks and occasionally walking a knife-edge stretch, combined with big exposure, make this day one of the most memorable of the route.

Stay tuned and check in tomorrow to hear how it goes!
