May 8 Team – View From The Edge of the World

The May 8 Team is soaking up the sun at 14,200 ft (4328 m) on the highest peak in North America! The team enjoyed a beautiful weather day at camp with lots of lounging and a short hike out to a gorgeous viewpoint known as The Edge of World. Returning to camp for a lovely dinner the team sat down to chat about their move to Camp 4 17,200 ft (5242 m)!

The team reports everyone is feeling strong heading into the 3,000 ft (914 m) day of climbing which generally takes about 6-8 hours. This can definitely be a really tough day of climbing, as the loads are big and some of the terrains they will negotiate is steep. Send our climbers your best wishes in the comments below!

Rewards for their strong work will be in the awesome climbing along the ridge, pictured below. Weaving in and out of the rocks and occasionally walking a knife-edge stretch, combined with big exposure, make this day one of the most memorable of the route. Looking forward to hearing all about it next time!
